Captain Tom's 100 Challenge
Huge encouragement this week to William in Year 2 who has decided to take part in Captain Tom's 100 challenge by cycling 100km over 2 months to raise money for Small Steps. Thank you also to his big sister Emilia who is working very hard as his back-up crew and supporting him all the way!
He suffered a stroke at just 3-weeks old which has left him with Hemiplegia, a form of cerebral palsy which causes lack of movement and weakness on the left side of his body. Despite these challenges, he has learnt to ride his specially adapted bike and his sheer determination pushes him to get ever stronger and go ever further on it.
Small Steps is local charity that help children with brain injury learn new or different ways of approaching and dealing with everyday tasks. They played an enormous part in William's early rehabilitation and he attended weekly sessions there - free of charge - from 18 months to 4yrs-old. They also provided huge support and comfort to his parents, as they adapted to life with a disabled child.
Please help us support this lovely charity so they can help other families. Learn more about them here : www.smallsteps.org.uk
West Temple Sheen Roadworks
You may have seen the sign about the roadworks due to commence next week closing West Temple Sheen to traffic. This has the potential to cause additional congestion in the local area, so please take particular care on the roads around school. As soon as we have spoken with the contractors next week we will make a risk assessment around the queue that also uses West Temple Sheen and make a decision if an alternative system will be temporarily necessary.
Catalytic Converter theft
Sadly, a member of staff had the catalytic converter stolen from underneath their car during the working day when it was parked on Christchurch Road. It would appear that they are targetting specific cars i.e. small Japanese models. If you drive one, please be careful and if you see any suspicious car tampering please let us know as soon as possible.
Sheen Mount Swimming Hats
Swimming caps can be reserved via Arbor – The caps were kindly donated by Swimway to help raise money for the school and we would request a voluntary donation of £5. Reserved caps will be delivered to the pupils in their classrooms. Please remember that, other than where reasonable adjustments are required, wearing hats in the pool is compulsory to avoid clogging up the filters.
School Notices
Each week, the school produces a list of adverts and notices that parents can choose to subscribe to. If you are not on the mailing list and would like to be sent this each week you can subscribe here: http://eepurl.com/dy0iur
