Dear Parents,
We have come to the last newsletter of the term. We still have the spring concerts from Reception and Key Stage one, as well as the Year 3 assembly to come next week. A reminder of the dates and times is below.
Thank you to all the staff for their hard work this term and to our parents for your continued collaborative approach.
We look forward to seeing many parents at school events over the next week.
A reminder that on the last day of term on Thursday 28th March, school finishes early- 2pm for R/KS1 and 2.10pm for KS2. We look forward to welcoming the children back on Monday 15th April.

A reminder, children may go straight home after the spring concerts, please wait by the classroom doors as per pick up. If you are waiting for siblings, we would ask you to leave the site before returning for the 3.20pm/3.30pm pick up.
The Year 3 assembly is on Tuesday 26th March at 9.10am.
School events
Year 2 had a wonderful time on the London Eye last Friday. Thank you to all the staff and the parents that accompanied them.
Year 6 enjoyed their 'Junior Citizen' trip last Wednesday at Holly Lodge. They were put through ten different scenarios to test themselves against, within the context of citizenship.
For further information, please see the year group headings below.
Surveys
A reminder of the surveys from previous newsletters and the link will be sent in the body of the email.
We aim to survey all stakeholders (pupils, parents and staff) every two years and this year's surveys will be sent out in the text of the email. Please take the time to fill these in.
For the children in Reception and Year 1, this will be carried out through a hands-up survey in class. For all other children, we would ask that you fill it in at home. Whilst the parent survey should be one per family, please try and fill the child survey in as one per child.
School lunches
We have arranged another session for parents to attend the accent catering presentation, taste the school food and then ask questions. It will be on Friday 17th May from 2.30pm-3.20pm. Please sign up here:

There was some feedback about the school food at the parent forum. From a personal viewpoint, I do not agree with what the children are informing you about their food. Everyone is always going to have personal tastes and we hold regular meetings with the provider throughout the year. The company have already attended a school council meeting and the feedback would be very much in the 'making it even better' category rather than complaints. Nevertheless, I have requested Accent to run a transparent survey (with the school seeing the result of the survey) and this food event.
E-safety and interactive devices, particularly watches
We have had a couple of incidents recently with interactive watches coming into school. Please ensure your child does not wear a watch to school with the ability to connect online or have a camera.
A reminder of the 'setting parental controls for your child's devices' document is attached.
You may also be aware of the significant rise in VR consoles. These come with the added complication that you cannot see the content your child is watching. The programme below explains more. Please note, it comes with a warning of sensitive content.

Staffing
We thank Mrs Zawada for her work as half of 4BZ for the last two terms. We wish her all the best with her move to Edinburgh. We welcome Mrs Katie Thomas to 4BZ to work with Mrs Barrington-Haynes from Easter.
Sport
Key Stage 2 cross country
This event is planned for Tuesday 26th March from 2pm on Sheen common. Y4 and Y3 will run from 2pm and Y5/6 from 2.30pm.
The distance will be around 400m for Y3/4 and 600m for Y5/6. The idea is for children to enjoy going up to the common and doing some exercise. However, the forecast is not looking good and the ground is already saturated - we will keep you informed.
Parents may attend, but please note the following requests in order to help ensure staff keep all the children safe-
Parents should stay behind the cones on their side at all times.
Ideally, dogs will not be brought to the event, but if they are, they are kept some distance from all children.
School Fixtures
Congratulations to the girls who won a thrilling penalty shoot out to progress to the quarter-finals of the girls' league competition. Well done to all the team, but especially those who volunteered to take a penalty.
Unfortunately, after the boys finished top of their locality league, they were unable to make it through to the next round after a narrow 1-0 defeat this week. An incredibly successful season for the boys.
The boys' team attended the St Paul's tournament last Friday. After 7 league matches, they made it through to the 3rd/4th play-off. They were handed a tough 1-0 loss, despite dominating for much of the game.
The tag rugby team were defeated by a very impressive Heathfield school in the last 16 round of the league.
Many thanks to Mr Brown for all his expertise and dedication in leading both these football teams.
Have a good weekend and Easter break, when it arrives.
