School Journeys
Sheen Mount has a long tradition of providing the children with residential opportunities whilst at primary school. The current provision provides an element of staying away from home for all children in Years 3 to 6. They all take place during the Summer Term in the following pattern:
Year 3 Sleepover
The children in Year 3 are offered the chance to spend the night in school. The children sleep in the school hall and experience fun and games, a camp-fire, singing, a nightwalk and a hearty breakfast with their friends the next morning.
Year 4 Juniper Hall
The children have an opportunity to spend two nights away from home at a Field Studies Centre near Dorking called Juniper Hall. Whilst there the children engage in a wide range of environmental, scientific and artistic activities including orienteering, mammal trapping, river dipping and lots of long walks up Box Hill.
Year 5 The Isle of Wight
In Year 5, the children have the opportunity to spend a week on the Isle of Wight. The journey supports the learning in the classroom and also provides a fantastic opportunity for the children to develop independence and confidence. We stay in a hotel and have daily excursions that include Brading Roman Villa, Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House, Amazon World, Robin Hill and Alum Bay. The children also get lots of time to play on the beach and spend time playing and learning with their friends.
Year 6 PGL Marchants Hill
The children in Year 6 are invited to attend a residential journey to PGL Marchants Hill, in the Surrey Hills. The centre provides 45 acres of beautiful grounds packed with adventure activities, including watersports on the on-site lake. There are also stunning hiking routes nearby.
The school would like all children to have the opportunity to attend all of these journeys. Funds are available to provide financial support for families that need it.
