Sheltering down below
The children in Year 6 have had a busy couple of weeks. As part of our learning about World War II, we visited an air raid shelter at St Leonard’s Court to find out how it helped to keep some local people safe when the Luftwaffe was bombing London during the Blitz.
In science we have been learning about the very useful role that bacteria play in breaking down waste material in our school compost heap – did you know that a handful of soil contains more bacteria than there are people on the planet? We are also impressing the Year 6 teachers with our confidence in French. By giving it a go and not being afraid of making mistakes, we are all making good progress and some of us are developing very engaging accents when we speak!
