Our trip reinforced our science learning about evolution and adaptation.  During the course of the day we learnt even more about plant evolution.  First came the algae, then the moss, next were the ferns followed by conifers and finally flowering plants – a process of development that took over 500 million years. We also went on a tree-spotting walk and by the end of the morning, we were able to tell the difference between an oak, a plane tree and a cedar tree. We also really enjoyed the opportunity to spend some time with our friends in the beautiful surroundings of the Royal Botanic Gardens.
