Rocks, Reading and Representations
What a wonderful start to the Autumn term!
It has been fantastic to see how well all the children have settled into their Year 3 classes. This week we were able to use the library again and the children really enjoyed getting stuck into some good books. It has been great to see the children using shared spaces again and enjoying mixing with other classes at play time.
In English we have started reading a new book called 'Stone Age Boy' and we have discussed how the characters would be feeling at certain points in the story. We have also been identifying word classes in sentences and building exciting sentences, ensuring we use capital letters and full stops.
In maths we have been looking at place value. We have been using Base 10 to represent numbers up to 1000 as well as identifying the value of digits in 3-digit numbers.
We have started a new topic of 'rocks and soil' in science and the children enjoyed studying different rocks and describing their properties.
In history this term our topic is the Stone Age and we have begun to look back in history to understand when the Stone Age happened.
