Forest school, Materials and subtraction!

Another busy week in Year 1!

This week we enjoyed having our Forest School session in the sunshine (see pic above of Hedgehog class making hedgehogs out of pinecones!)

In science, we investigated some of the properties of different materials and began to think about why some objects are made out of certain materials.

In art, we continued our sketching unit by drawing a variety of different 2D shapes and then colouring them using different media.

In our writing sessions, we are creating a plan that we will use to support our sentence writing next week with a focus on verbs.

Finally, in maths, we are continuing our subtraction unit by using counters and tens frames to ‘take away’, drawing and crossing off, part whole models and number lines.

Have a great weekend! The Year 1 team.
