Superheroes, plants and turns!
Superheroes, plants and turns!
Welcome back to an already very busy Summer 2! This week we started our new English unit – Superheroes. We have had a lot of fun reading and acting out the story of ‘Supertato!’ (Please see the pic above.). We took it in turns to be the heroic Supertato and practised our best villainous laugh (Mwahahaha!) when playing Evil Pea. This will lead on to planning our own ‘veggie’ superhero and writing some wonderful character descriptions and creative stories over the next couple of weeks.
Vegetables are definitely the theme of the week as we continue our science topic on plants. We have been discussing the difference between fruits and vegetables and what part of a plant that they come from. Did you know that tomatoes and cucumbers are both types of fruits and not vegetables? Finally, in maths, we have started a new topic all about ‘Position and direction’. We have been using the vocabulary quarter, half, three quarters and full to describe the different turns. We also went over clockwise and anticlockwise as well. Maybe you could practise this at home- just try not to get too dizzy! Have a super rest of the week! The Year 1 team.
