Poetry, subtraction and forest school
Happy World Book Day! We have had a very busy couple of weeks in Year 1. Last week, in our English lessons, we started our new poetry unit. The children have enjoyed reading, writing, listening to and performing different types of poetry with this week’s focus being on onomatopoeia. In maths, we have continued with subtraction using our mental maths skills and different written methods. We have also been using a variety of maths vocabulary each lesson. How many different ways can you think of to say ‘subtract’? In Geography, we are looking at rural and urban areas and their similarities and differences which leads onto next week when we will be going on a Geography walk.
Another highlight of the last two weeks is Forest school, which we are all thoroughly enjoying. We are also looking forward to our visit to the transport museum tomorrow!
