All creatures great and small.
A busy week in Year 1!
We have had another fun filled week in Year 1 this week with lots of amazing learning, fun and hard work!
In English we have looked at fables, with a focus on the story The Lion and the Mouse. The story focuses on a tiny mouse helping a proud lion out of a tricky situation and becoming friends. We have written character descriptions of the lion and answered comprehension questions about the story too.
In Maths we have used our number bonds, addition and subtraction knowledge to look at inverse and number families. The children amazed us with their understanding of this tricky concept. They were able to be given 3 numbers and use them to write 2 addition and 2 subtraction number sentences that link together. We are very proud of their hard work in maths this week!
In Science we have continued our animals topic with a focus on the similarities and differences between reptiles and amphibians. The children enjoyed watching videos to learn facts about both types of animals and we worked on comparing the two. We have also looked at the kinds of homes small creatures live in and had a go at drawing the small creatures or building a shelter for them to live in.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend,
From the Year 1 Team x
