We are very pleased with the way the children have settled into their usual routines after the half term holiday- well done Year 1!

This topic will continue for the rest of the spring term. In maths, we have continued with subtraction using our mental maths skills and different written methods. We have also been using different maths vocabulary each lesson. How many different ways can you think of to say ‘subtract’?

    Published 11/10/23

This week we continued our geography topic on the 7 Continents with a focus on Asia. We visited China and, while we were there, we saw The Great Wall (please see the picture above!) and sketched an animal native to this country- the Panda. We learnt that Asia is the biggest Continent (which is why it comes first in the song!) as well as other fascinating facts. In maths, we have started our unit on addition and subtraction and have been using Part –whole models.  In our science carousel, we have been using our sense of touch to feel and then describe different objects in a ‘feely bag’. Finally, in our PSHE lesson, we came up with some wonderful ideas about being a good friend. Have a lovely rest of the week! The year 1 team.
