Poems, boats and Grandma rap!
The children have had an excellent start to the Spring term. We have started a range of new topics, such as; poetry, shapes, London, and dance. In English, we have explored and developed our knowledge of poetic features. We have written our own onomatopoeia poem. We are also looking at alliteration and similes. In maths, we are learning about 2D and 3D shapes. We have learnt key vocabulary such as; symmetry, vertices, sides, horizontal, vertical, faces, and edges. We have spent time focusing on horizontal and vertical lines of symmetry. In science, we designed and created a waterproof boat that could hold five passengers (marbles). We were able to use a range of materials and in our groups we had to decide on which material would be best suited. We then tested our boats! In music, we have learnt how to keep the beat. We have used the word crotchet. We have learnt this through the Grandma Rap!
