Pirates, place value and plants...

This week in literacy we began our pirate topic. We have been learning pirate language and true facts about pirates. Did you know that pirates wore eye patches because they believed it helped them see better in the dark? We have also been learning and performing pirate sea shanties.  In maths we are revisiting place value and have been counting in 10s. We have really enjoyed partitioning numbers into tens and ones. In science, we are busy planting potato tubers and sunflower seeds this week. We are remembering to water them daily and are so pleased the weather is sunny! Finally, in history we have learnt about the four contenders for the throne after the death of Edward the Confessor and what happened at the Battle of Stamford Bridge!
