Traditional tales, plants and enormous spiders!

Traditional tales, plants and enormous spiders!

Over the past couple of weeks, the children have really enjoyed listening to, reading, acting and retelling a variety of traditional tales. We are learning that they all have similar features and have enjoyed identifying them in each tale. In maths, we have finished multiplication and division and moved on to fractions with this week’s focus on half/ halves. In science, we are learning about plants and can now identify different types of trees- Deciduous and Evergreen.

Finally, in art, we continued our unit on paper sculpture. Last week, using newspaper, we made collaborative spider sculptures (please see an example of one of our fabulous creations above!). We are also really looking forward to our trip to Hobbledown this Friday!  Have a lovely weekend. The year 1 team.
