Last forest school, Arts Week, measuring weight and writing a plant fact book
The last two weeks have been filled with lots of learning, and we have made some wonderful memories of our time in Year 1. In forest school, we learnt how to light a fire; we have toasted marshmallows; and we painted outside using watercolours and naturally made clay or soil paints. In Arts Week, we learnt all about Henri Rousseau, a famous French painter who painted a huge painting called "Tiger in a tropical storm". We made our very own tiger sculptures and printed leaves as a jungle background. We visited our very own Sheen Mount Art Gallery to see all the other classes' work and be inspired by their beautiful creations. In Maths, we weighed classroom objects and recorded their weights in cubes and finally in English/Science, we wrote some beautifully illustrated plant fact books for our science learning journals.
